PT-109

They should call this boat the PT-junior, or how about TP, tuna patrol.
I just downloaded some pics from my camera and I had forgotten about the new Basset Custom 30', being built to order as we speak. Just looking at the shot of the bow, with the Ian and Dana are building it from the bare hull up. The shells are built in Florida and shipped up to the Cape for assembly. The engine was just installed, it's a 425 hp Volvo, with over 1,100 foot pounds of torque. "The engine has a robust block with ladder frame, high pressure unit injector system, 4 valves per cylinder, “twin entry” turbo and aftercooler." - from Volvo's website. The hull is super light, it's made of just fiberglass, resin, plywood, and dense foam. I bet this boat will do 45 knots, Ian and Dana, think 35-40 is more conservative (PT-109 had a top speed of 41 knots).
It's going to have a bow thruster for improved maneuverability around the docks. Other features include side scan sonar, GPS, radar, depth finder, and fish finder all interfaced through touch screen LCD monitors, full tuna tower crafted out of aluminum, small V-berth with crapper, fish wells and two big fuel tanks. These pictures were taken 2 weeks ago and I guess they are much further along now, i'll take some more detailed pics next round. I can't get the pics to post, so i'll post them separately.
